Hi!

How's it been! I miss this place. So many memories.

Going to be changing my name, the brain monsters phase was just a phase. Going with a more science-scifi theme, as that is the field I am in now (squee)

I bought myself a Cintiq Companion Hybrid 2, so I can draw during my lunch hour at work and get more stuff done. Not just medical illustrations, character concept art. Maybe I'll get some of the work I've been doing up on here, or at least on my blog which I can post up on this site.

In other news, check that Pokemon Sun and Moon, rowlets final evo looks SO COOL

Finally a good owl poke. T_T

That is all for now!

It's weird, almost like that last piece I posted on here months ago with "The End" was a self fulfilling prophecy.

I won't be posting on DA anymore. I will clear some of my gallery out soon. I will check DA from time to time but these are the sites I'm on now:

nabaroo.com/Ashling_Sublime (just started posting on here)
shannonashleymcmann.blogspot.c…
localsolo.com/boston-ma/profil…
twitter.com/albinoquark
www.behance.net/NaSionainne

The nabaroo and localsolo found me actually, and are per invite only and I really like the fast, easy, professional portfolio set up.

I posted some things on these sites that I wouldn't post on DA. Lots of full versions of some of the comic con pieces, and some commissioned artwork I've never posted online. I'll be updating with much more soon though (more commission work as well!)

Instead of just dropping off or not posting work I figured I could let anyone who might be interested know where I'm going. I just don't feel comfortable posting quality work on this site anymore. For many reasons that I won't delve into.

Hope you've all been well. Thank you to anyone who's been following my work; I really appreciate it. :iconlaaaplz:

Anime

1 min read
I guess anime is my main style. Or a mix of western and anime if nothing else.

I was brainwashed by Pokemon and Digimon growing up and I can't get it out of my style. I CAN'T. IT MADE ITS HOME IN MY HEAD.

Oh well. :iconmerpplz:

Color me mangaka.

  1. How long have you been on DeviantArt?
I had a few accounts before this one. So, 7 years or so. But going on 3 for this account.

  2. What does your username mean?
It's the name of my crazy pug scientist mascot character Dr. Rowen BrainMonsters

  3. Describe yourself in three words.
    Curious, determined, optimistic

  4. Are you left or right handed?
    Right!

  5. What was your first deviation?
Icon by DrBrainMonsters On THIS account, of course. The first one I ever posted on DA was a drawing of a now defunct chameleon character I had named Malinco.

  6. What is your favourite type of art to create?
    Animal art, creatures, monsters, anime

  7. If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be?
Definitely 3-D sculpting, but it'll be a second masters for me. So it won't be instant, but it'll definitely be a thing in the future! WOOHOO! But yeah it'd be cool to do 3-D right now on the spot!

  8. What was your first favourite?
Can't remember my first one EVER, but for THIS account, it's this favorite:  This is a cat's world 2 by Michelangelo84 which is weird, since I don't fave photography picts too often compared to paintings and drawings.

  9. What type of art do you tend to favourite the most?
Anything that looks good, inspires, is inspired... so there's no theme really. Just whatever I come across and like!

  10. Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist?
Anyone who has ever inspired me. This therefore is a HUGE LIST. Every single artist that has in anyway impacted how I think and draw deserves to be on this list. Period. But if I had to choose one for THIS question, I always find myself going back to Creaturebox though. They are not my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE as I said, but they did create the concept art for Ratchet and Clank... and I love me some Ratchet and Clank!

  11. If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be?

I'd love to meet :iconshedesign: (she was actually the FIRST person I ever friended and talked to online!) :icontheherosfdeserves:,:iconignacio-g-art:&:iconmixtapemusix: cuz well you all know why! Cool cool people, CHECK OUT THEIR ARTWORK as they go right onto my list of favorite DA artists (is why I listed them here and not in the previous item. :)) SheDesign makes some amazing 3-D interior designs, and is totally pro, theherosfdeserves draws some raw professional style comic book art (ink and pencil, also interiors and color work,) ignacio-g art makes some amazingly organic cartoons and animations with tons of personality, and mixtapemusix paints some brilliant portraits with a different array of color palettes and detail.

  12. How has a fellow deviant impacted your life?
Yep, the people I listed as my faves go onto here as well!

  13. What are your preferred tools to create art?
Tablet and Clip Studio Paint. For traditional, nothing beats good ol' pencil n' ink! Maybe markers too. :D

  14. What is the most inspirational place for you to create art?
To create it, well at my work desk. :P

  15. What is your favourite DeviantArt memory?
Chatting with and making long term friends on here. :) #deviantartistquestionnaire

I broke my nose when I was only 2 years old. I still remember it like it was yesterday. From that point on, I've had an uncomfortably deformed nose bridge and deviated septum.

And deviated septums aren't just bad looking; they're hazardous to your health. I could never get a proper night's sleep or drink up that oxygen needed to get an adequate work out.

I put it to the back of my mind for years. I was too scared to get the surgery for it. Terrified, even. But the hell it's put me through for the past 8 years (I could have gotten it done at 17, but I wussed out. I'm 25 now.) is worse than the procedure.

Then I find out I need to get sinus surgery with it because of a white water rafting accident 2 years ago. AND I needed a turbinectomy on top of it. (look up what that is; holy hell!)

My ENT was so cool, he fixed my nose bridge too. It looks different but I can't completely see it I'm still all cast-up. But it already looks straight, clean, smaller, and narrower. AND it's turned up more. :D

The way it was meant to look. :iconjoyplz:

I just got the plugs removed from my sinuses. Holy damn. THAT WAS INTENSE. I'll be back making art soon, probably tomorrow or the next day. :)

When the swelling and bruising goes away and I'm completely healed, I'll see if I can take a new Deviant ID photo. That should be another 2-3 weeks though.

Anyone who's known me for any length of time would notice the difference. I was the walking dead for years with how poorly I could breathe, now it's a new beginning for me. Just had to be brave and overcome my fear of the surgery and aftermath.

It's only been one day since the surgery but I'm already feeling good. ^_^ Hope everyone else is too.
